Office move

Company: Wargaming I.T. Systems Administrator

  • Wargaming Bellevue moved office location twice during my tenure.
  • The first time we moved in the same building to another floor.  This required me plan the shutdown of all server equipment, make sure anyone who needed to work over the weekend had copies of documents they felt necessary, and gracefully shutdown all server clients, VM hosts, and storage devices.  I contracted a structured cabling company to run cablesj.  I worked with the architect in designing the server room size, HVAC, electrical and low voltage wiring.  During this move I made sure my inventory was up to date, determine equipment that I could get rid of, or any equipment that could be used at another US location.  Once moved, I ensured all services were restored and working as intended.
  • The second move was requested last minute, and did not have a destination.  The purpose of this move is temporary storage of office equipment until a more cost effective office could be secured,  I only had two weeks to find a moving and storage company that could pack and store the entire office within two weeks.  I found a company that would allow me to request equipment if needed, local, and had an opening.  All services that needed to be running were transferred to other offices, and I ensured everyone could get to their data before the shutdown of my server rack.  I oversaw the packing of the entire office, and ensured all server equipment was packaged securely and with plenty of padding.
